- Comic Books – Alfred absolutely adores comic books, the ones with Superheroes. To him,, superheroes represent more than just a source of entertainment. They're an ideal he desperately wants to achieve. They're brave, smart, capable, cool under pressure and graceful under fire. They stand for truth and justice and protect the weak against those who would take advantage of them. His favorite is definitely Captain America, who stands for Freedom and Liberty.
- Classic films – He's not just a film lover, he's a film connoisseur. He loves the greats: Apocalypse Now, Citizen Kane, Bun Hur. He especially loves the classic romances. He'll lock himself in his room and watch so-called “chick flicks”, eat ice cream, and cry when he was sad. His favorite is, of course, Casa Blanca.
- Westerns – He loves cowboys, Indians, and everything to do with the wild west. His biggest dream is to act in a western, even if they aren't as popular as they once were. But he's dead set on being a cowboy or a superhero at least once in his career as an actor.
- Musical Theater – He's been performing since he was very young, it's in his blood. There's nothing else he'd rather do, even if he fails as an actor he'll never ever give up on it.
- Food – Alfred loves to eat. He's always got some kind of food in his mouth or hands. It has extended into a love of cooking, but that's something he doesn't get to do very often with his dinky apartment that barely has room for a fridge and a microwave.
- Space – When he was little his father would take him out a couple nights a year with a telescope, blankets, and a bit of food to gaze up at the stars. It was the only time his father would pay any attention to him at all and Alfred cherished these nights. Later he became obsessed with space, just to have something to share with his dad.
- Video games – When he was still in school he never had any time for playing video games and his mom wouldn't have let him if he did. Now that he's out on his own he decided to save up for a console. He's now the proud owner of a PS3 and a few FPS games.
- Guys – Surprise, surprise, a musical theater actor who's gay! Alfred's known since he was very young that he'd rather kiss boys than girls. He's not sure what exactly tipped him off, but he just kinda took it in stride. Of course his parents don't know and they never will
- Football – His mother absolutely hated her son's love of football. When he was younger he wanted to go out for the team, but his mother never let him. She said that it would make him too muscular for theater. His favorite team is the Patriots and he was devastated when they lost
- Baseball – Despite his mother's protests, his father signed him up for little league when he was 7. That summer was the best summer of his life and one of the few he can remember spending with his dad. He went on to absolutely put his foot down and insist that his mother let him play on the team in high school
Dislikes:(please add details)
- Dieting – His mother carefully controlled what he ate for the entire time he lived at home. No fast food, no carbs, lots of water, and no soda among other things. He just wants to eat whatever he wants and just bike it off later
- Being called fat – He's gained a few ( a FEW) pounds since he left home and started living on his own, but that doesn't give anyone any right to call him fat
- Not doing it perfectly the first time – If there's one thing he inherited from his mother it's her obsession with perfection. No matter what it is he's doing, it bugs him if he doesn't do it perfectly the first time. Don't take that to mean he won't work to get better, though
- Basketball – As much as he loves various sports, he's just never gotten into basketball. He'll shoot some hoops with the guys as soon as the next guy, but watching it just isn't his thing.
- Clowns – He doesn't know what it is about them, but clowns just freak him out. Perhaps it's the way they always seem to be ex-cons with horrible yellow teeth and watery eyes, or the anonymity of the make up. He just can't stand clowns. Except rodeo clowns, they're cool because they run from bulls instead of scaring children
- Controlling people – This stems mostly from his resentment of his mother, who insisted on controlling every aspect of his life since the second he showed any talent at all as a dancer. He just hates it when people try to control him or tell him what to do. He's okay with direction or suggestion, but outright telling him what to do will not go over well
- Self-righteousness – Another trait of his mother's that he absolutely hates. It pisses him off when a person looks down on other people. He can't stand the type of people who would be so arrogant. On the other hand, he has a tendency to be like this without realizing it.
- Ghosts – There's just something about ghosts that scares the piss out of him. Maybe it's that they're something he can't touch, something he can't fight. Maybe they just remind him too much of his own mortality. But whatever it is, they're unnatural. Something that shouldn't exist, but that he believes in fearfully and wholeheartedly.

Personality and character history:
History:
Stella Jones was a bright, young, promising actress whose career had only just begun on Broadway in the late 80s. She was expected to do great things, to be the next big thing in theater. Everyone loved her and she loved the attention. She had many affairs, but she always seemed to come back to the same man, the son of a wealthy Canadian rancher named John Williams. Everything was going good for Stella. She had a rising career and she and John had fun together. She was all set to go on to stardom.
Until she got pregnant.
Embarrassed by the scandal and pressured by her family, the young actress quietly married John and left stage life. It tore her up inside and caused her to resent her husband and the children growing inside her. On July 1st 1992, Alfred and Matthew Williams were born to parents who were already distant with each other and would prove to be equally distant from the twins.
Despite the lack of parental love and attention, Alfred grew up a rather happy child. He walked and talked early, always running around and babbling. He gave the nannies hell and many of them quit because he was such a rambunctious child. Almost as soon as he started talking, he started singing. They were nonsense songs in baby talk at first, nursery rhymes later. One day during his daily visit to his mother he decided to sing her a song.
Stella immediately took over Alfred's life. The nannies still fed and clothed and spent time with him, but most of his day was taken up with singing lessons from his mother. He was put into dance classes and then a year later a professional singing teacher was hired. After the acting lessons started, so did the auditions for local productions. Stella was motivated once more, training her focus on Al like a magnifying glass on an ant hill. The young boy was talented and driven, winning out over his peers for all the best roles for his age group. As he grew so did his talent and range. It helped that a majority of his day was spent in practice and even when he wasn't rehearsing, he was singing.
Alfred, despite his ambition and tendency to think mainly of himself and his own interests, is a noble and heroic person at heart. So when he noticed that every year on their birthday he was showered with gifts from their mother while Matthew was largely ignored, he threw a fit and demanded to have his birthday celebrated on the 4th instead. This way he hoped that Matthew could get more attention. He felt guilty for taking all of their mother's focus.
At 12, when it became very clear that Al's talent shone just as brightly if not brighter than his mother's had, Stella had his last name legally changed to Jones so that musical theater could be a family legacy. Alfred didn't want to change his name at first because he already felt distanced from his dad, who only paid fleeting bouts of attention to him. But his mother talked it up and sold it so well that Alfred became more enthusiastic.
Every part of Alfred's life was controlled by his mother. Who he talked to, what he ate, the clothes he wore, the songs he sang at auditions, the amount of homework he did, they were all in her iron grip of control. By the time he was in a high school for the performing arts and on the fast track to the National Institute of Dramatic Arts (NIDA), he hated her for it. All he wanted was a little bit of control over his own life, but still she kept him under her Prada heel.
After he graduated from high school, that was it. He couldn't live by her rules anymore. Instead of going to NIDA he left for Juliard instead. He thought maybe a year of just focusing on dance could be good for him, soothing and stress-reducing. But he got there and it was just as bad as being under his mother's thumb. His ballet teacher berated him and tried to control every minute of Alfred's time and he couldn't stand it. One day everything just snapped. He told the teacher to go fuck himself and stormed out of the studio. The next day he dropped his classes and that was that.
His mother was furious that Alfred had defied her wishes not only by not going to NIDA, but by dropping out of Juliard. She ordered that all of Alfred's monetary funds be cut off and that neither his father or his brother was allowed to give him any assistance. Alfred used what was left of the money he'd set aside and used it to pay a few months rent on a small apartment and began searching for work.
It was hard, finding a job. For awhile he worked at a diner waiting tables, and more than once he was forced to make his food money performing in the streets. Times were hard and often he went hungry. But salvation came in the form of an audition for the Hetalian International Theater. He aced his audition, and now he's living by means of his greatest talent and oldest love: Musical theater.
Personality:
Alfred is a driven individual with great ambition and a need for success. His philosophy is “Go big or go home” when it comes to almost anything. He strives for perfection, becoming annoyed when things don't go his way or he makes a mistake. Every slip up is a personal failure in his eyes because his mother drilled it into him to never, ever fail. Because of this he's easily depressed when he doesn't do as well as he expects himself to. He often blames others when something goes wrong with a production to protect his self-image, even if he's to blame.
Speaking of Al's self image, it's very healthy. Maybe even too healthy. Alfred thinks very highly of himself because he's always been around people who thought very highly of him. He comes across as arrogant at times, and maybe he is. But he genuinely doesn't want to offend anyone else. He just “knows” that he's more talented than everyone else. He doesn't think they should blame him just because he's amazing at singing, dancing, and acting. It's not his fault that he was born with a huge chunk of natural talent and worked his butt off to perfect it.
That's just the thing, he does work for what he has. Al is actually a really dedicated and hard-working person. When he has his mind set on something, that's it. It's going to happen. He never takes no for an answer when he really wants something and he'll work his ass off to get where he wants to be. Most of his day is spent in the studio dancing or singing wherever he happens to be when the mood hits. He often even sings on his way home on the subway.
Alfred is also a fiercely loyal person who would do anything for a friend in need. In his mind the best thing you can do for a person is be a good friend and he has very specific ideas of what a good friend is. He listens to his friend's problems any time they need it and while he may not be very good at giving verbal advice, he'll defend them to the death and champion them in any conflict. He's very protective of anyone he cares about and lord help you if you ever cross him. The sweet, friendly kid next door can quickly become big trouble. Alfred may be gay and he may be into musical theater, but he's not a wimp. He can pack a punch and when he's angry he's unstoppable.
Don't think that he's not a big old sweetheart, though. He's happy and energetic, never a dull moment around him. He's a staunch optimist and believes completely in ideals like freedom, liberty, justice, and happily ever after. To him the world is a mostly good place and that people all have good in them, even if they're evil. To him, there's no such thing as a situation without hope. He can find the silver lining in any cloud.
He's a complete child at heart, a little boy who still loves legos, Captain America, and video games. He even throws temper tantrums like a child when he doesn't get his way. Besides that, he's also a complete nerd. Star Wars, Star Trek, comic books, video games, anything that could possibly label him as a complete nerd, he probably does. Except things like Dungeons and Dragons and Magic: The Gathering. But he does play World of Warcraft, which he supposes is basically the same thing.
He's also a big romantic who believes in true love and is waiting very patiently for it. His tendency to dive into relationships fully and much too quickly has gotten him hurt more than once. He still knows in his heart that the right person for him is out there somewhere and if he's lucky he'll find them soon. If not, then every relationship in the meantime is a learning experience that will make that final and truest of his loves all the more rich and deep.

This was it, today was the day that he would finally be leaving the Free States of America for the Heta Empire. He was excited, more so than he could remember being at any time of his life. He was going to see new lands and experience new things and when he finally came home it would be with stories of things his family and friends had never even dreamt of. There was only one problem.
Ma was blubbering again.
“Al, promise me you’ll be careful.” His mother asked, tearful as she inspected her son one more time. He was dressed sharply in his military uniform, given to him so civilians would know he worked with them, with his father’s old jacket that had been handed down to him over his own issued uniform jacket. It wasn’t cold in the slightest, but he wore the old leather bomber jacket more for comfort and strength than anything. His father was his hero, the man he’d always tried to emulate. And looking at him now, Amelia Jones could see the resemblance between her husband and son. She held his shoulders, looking up into his eyes as she licked her handkerchief and wiped at his cheeks. Her own were red from crying with tracks of tears coursing down them.
It made Alfred uncomfortable seeing his mother cry and he shifted from foot to foot, not looking her in the eyes. Girls crying period had always made him rather uncomfortable, but seeing his mom cry was even worse. And the fact that it was basically his fault made him feel horrible. “Aw, Ma! Don’t cry, you’re embarrassing me. And you know I’ll be careful! I ain’t a little kid you gotta look out for, anymore. I’m a man now!” He protested, trying to get away from the kerchief. It was scratchy and he did not have something on his face! And he was totally not pouting.
“Alfred Jones you mind your mother, now.” His father warned when he saw his son was getting a bit too impatient with his mother. He knew his father wasn’t truly angry; he just didn’t want him to forget his manners. And this might be the last time Ma saw him for a while, he guessed she was entitled to some fussing. But the slight frown melted into a smile as he pulled his son into a hug. “You be good, boy. You’re a good kid, but sometimes you don’t think before you act.” He told him, making a small shot of embarrassment and sheepishness go through him. Was he really that bad?
“Yes sir.” He replied with a grin of his own, returning his father’s hug and pulling his mother into his arms after. “I’ll be good, ma, I promise. And when I get back I’ll bring you all sorts of pretty things. Silk from the Asian Confederation so you can make yourself a pretty dress for entertaining guests like a proper lady! And Hair combs and a tea set and perfumes!”
His mother just laughed and slapped his arm. “All I want is for my boy to come home in one piece, maybe with a good girl on his arm so he can take over the farm when your pa and I get old.”
“Ma! Don’t say things like that!” He protested, a blush creeping up his cheeks. “Besides, you and Pa aren’t gonna get old!” he shot his mother a disarming smile as she shooed him up the ramp. “You just come back alive, you hear!?”
At the top of the ramp he turned and shot his parents a smile as bright as the sun and saluted. His father gave a small, proud smile and saluted back. Alfred squared his shoulders and turned back, walking onto the ship and into his future.
